Freelance looked fun. So I gave it a go. For a year (and a bit) I visited some great agencies to work on projects I believed in - winning pitches and making some life-long friends in the process. Most gigs would start as fortnight stints, but soon turn into months; once I’d proven my tea-making skills.

Lowe brought me in to help bolster their digital offering. And I joined to improve my ATL game. Turns out, it was a good trade. My time there was amazingly hectic - from running pitches in America, to shooting films in India and South Africa, I got used to being a global creative on global brands.

We also had a couple of good nights at awards dos... I started as an intern, but by the time I left I was running pitches, and overseeing clients such as Clarks, NowTV and AutoTrader.

I decided the perfect time to get my foot in the door was right-slap-bang in the middle of a global recession. Turns out, I like a challenge. This was a year filled to the brim with book crits, unpaid placements, and wearing SuperDry teeshirts. I also did a bit of freelance, to pay the bills. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.
